Make your own lavender deodorant

Baking Soda, Lavender Essential Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter

I had been using natural deodorant that I bought at the store. I used Tom’s of Maine deodorant as well as Kiss My Face deodorant. They worked well enough. However, there is something satisfying about making your own products. In the long run you spend less money, you are reducing your waste and you know exactly what you are putting on your body.

This recipe is simple and easy to make. It smells good and is very moisturizing. I have found that this deodorant works better than store bought deodorant! I am never smelly at the end of the day. There are only 5 ingredients. And I am sure you already have baking soda and coconut oil lying around your house.

These mini jars are perfect for holding this deodorant. I also use one of these jars for my toothpaste.

I adapted Trash is for Tossers deodorant recipe.

2 tbsp. Arrowroot Powder
1 tbsp. Baking Soda
1 tbsp. Coconut Oil
1 tbsp. Shea Butter
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil (or your desired essential oil such as lemongrass)

Mix the arrowroot powder and baking soda in a bowl. Add the melted coconut oil and shea butter into the bowl. Add your 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Mix until well combined. Transfer this mixture to a mini jar. At first this mixture is fairly runny. However it will harden up as it sits, especially if it is during the winter. You can also put it in the refrigerator.
