I have been trying to think of a profound topic to write about, but I haven’t been able to come up with anything…So, I am just going to write.
I have been loving my time in Bellingham. I love the beauty, the community, the people, the music, the events…The weather in September was so gorgeous. Kyle and I were able to do a lot of outdoors stuff. Now, the weather is cloudy and rainy almost every day. But, I don’t mind it…..yet. It is actually very peaceful. It is usually not raining hard. I bought an umbrella, rain boots, and medium jacket so I am all set.
Last night we walked to the library at Western Washington University and then decided to check out the open mic at The Underground Coffeehouse. I felt a little out-of-place since I am not a student. There were so many people there. It was the best open mic night I have ever been to. There was so much talent. There were poets, comedians, and musicians. We got chai’s and I also noticed they had vegan carrot cake and vegan pumpkin muffins!
I have not been working and I haven’t been trying too hard to find a job. This time has allowed me to learn more about myself and to explore my passions. I have joined The Bellingham Photography Club, and am going to sell some of my notecards at a photography show this weekend. I am very excited about this because I have never sold my photography. I also made business cards. One of my sunset pictures was featured in The Bellingham Herald. I have completed my photography galleries and set up a zenfolio account for people to buy my photographs. I also bought a Nikon D5100 that arrived yesterday! My goals are to sell my photography in local businesses, sell them online, and to learn more about how to start up a business. I also want to learn more about the technical aspects of photography. I have contacted a photographer in town to set up an informational interview but I have not heard back from her. I have applied for a job working as a photographer at the mall. I would be photographing kids with Santa and the Easter Bunny.
I have been exploring more about nutrition. I am passionate about nutrition because I know that food makes a huge difference in your health. It prevents and cures diseases. I had an informational interview with some nutritionists. I learned that many people will not take your advice. I think it would be very frustrating for me to see people who are struggling with their weight or have a disease but are unwilling to change their diet. I also think a career in nutrition would be hard because it is very personal. People are really emotional with their eating. I also would not want to be forced to eat animals products in classes I would take or tell people they should eat animal products. There would probably be a lot of things I would not agree with.
I do want to make a difference. I do want to work for a non-profit that I am passionate about. I realize that there are very few jobs that pay in this line of work. I am willing to work a job to make ends meet and then do something I am passionate about in my free time. I have applied to volunteer at Compassion and Choices. I would help people with end-of-life choices and make sure they have a peaceful death.
Here are some pictures I have taken with my new camera:
