AB Crepes opened in Bellingham in April of this year. The restaurant was started by two Western Washington University seniors who were interested in starting a business and liked the idea of focusing on crepes, which can be filled with a variety of ingredients. There is an Alphabet Challenge: Two people sitting down and eating 26 crepes (one for each letter of the alphabet) within an hour. Those that are successful will get their money back, an AB Crepes t-shirt and a picture on its wall of fame.
There is indoor seating and a walk-up service window in the front. It is very casual. It’s like a coffee shop. You order up front and pay right away. You sit down and they bring your food to you. The staff is very friendly. You can watch them make your crepe.
We walked in and asked about their vegan options. The man who helped us was very friendly. He suggested many ideas of what to order. After eating the crepes, they asked us if we enjoyed them. You can either build your own or they have specialty crepes. You can make any crepe vegan. They even have a gluten-free batter. One crepe is more than enough. You can order a dessert crepe or a dinner crepe. Their hours are Tuesday & Sunday 9am-9pm and Wednesday – Saturday 9am-midnight or later.
Some of the ingredients include spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, hummus, olives, bananas, strawberries etc.
I had the Southwestern. It had cucumbers, tomatoes and avocado. Kyle had the PB+J crepe. It had peanut butter, jelly and bananas.
Honestly, we weren’t that impressed with them. The flavors didn’t really stand out, but it was decent. I don’t know if we’ll go back especially since the average price of a crepe is $7. But, I am pleased they are vegan friendly.
