Mighty-O Donuts in Seattle

We went to Mighty-O Donuts yesterday to celebrate Kyle’s birthday. This place is amazing.

Mighty-O Donuts is an all-vegan donut shop in Seattle, Washington. Their donuts are made locally using certified organic ingredients. They do not contain chemical preservatives, hydrogenated oils, coloring or artificial flavors.  It is a cute cafe situated in an old historic building in the Wallingford neighborhood, near Green Lake Park. Their shop is located at 2110 North 55th Street.

These donuts are the best vegan donuts I have ever had. If you visit during the hour before they close you can get half-price donuts! The staff was friendly. They have seating indoors and out and they have public restrooms. They also have rice or soy milk if you want chai, coffee, etc. The most expensive donut is $1.85. You can watch them make the donuts. They also have a place outside where you can hook up a dog leash to a post. They have a dog water bowl.

We also tried the maple bar which tastes the most like a non-vegan donut. What I mean by that is that it was more chewy-like instead of being more cake-like. I liked the glazed donut and the maple bar the best. They had good flavor. Some other flavors include french toast, coconut, chocolate nut, cinnamon and sugar, lemon poppy, and sprinkles.

In 2010 Bon Appetit Magazine named Mighty-O one of the ten best donut shops in the United States. It also received a $10,000 prize for the best donuts in the televised Food Network Challenge: Donut Champions, filmed in November 2010. The company donates some of its earnings to educational and non-profit organizations.

If you are ever in Seattle, check this place out. I now know that every time we are in Seattle, Mighty-O’s is going to be our first stop.

Wow. I haven’t “really” had donuts since I was a kid. And even then, they were kind of a rare thing. But I LOVED them. Seeing all these Vegan Donut places taking shape is making me happy I am GF, as there is less chance of consuming an entire dozen!

Lucky you!! We had them quite a few years ago when they still sent out orders via mail, but they stopped doing that. They were really good even though they were a few days old!

Nice! It’s so nice to have so many vegan options. After going vegan, my husband craved donuts and we couldn’t find vegan donuts anywhere…It’s so nice these kind of places are popping up:)
