I have a hard time getting enough greens in my diet. I just don’t like munching on salads. I usually have to mix greens into sandwiches, burritos, and pizza for me to eat it. However, I have found that smoothies are a great way to get enough greens for the day. I love this because you can’t even taste the greens!
*This smoothie is more appealing than the typical green smoothie because it is not green.
*Baby spinach is probably the best green to start with when you are new to green smoothies.
*Green smoothies are basically a mixture of fruit, greens and a little bit of water. They don’t have to be complicated.
2 small bananas
2 c. spinach
1 c. frozen strawberries
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Vitamineral Green
1 tbsp. agave syrup
2 c. water
- Place ingredients into blender in the order above.
Blend until completely blended.
*I used the Vitamineral Green because I was given a sample of it at a talk Doug Walsh gave about raw food and Healthforce. I don’t think these kind of supplements and powders are necessary if you are eating a whole food plant-based diet.
*You can omit or add anything you want. You can try mangoes, blueberries, kale, lettuce, swiss chard, lamb’s quarters, pineapple, papaya, grapes, watermelon, kiwi, celery, peaches, cucumber, etc. Make your own! Have fun!
